Founder: Will Robinson

A founding partner of The New Media Firm, Will Robinson is a nationally recognized political media consultant and campaign strategist. For over two decades he has crafted messages and written, directed, and produced television, radio and internet ads for Democratic candidates and progressive organizations across the country.

Will was an early visionary in the field of new media. A pioneer of internet advertising, social networking and new channel media to give political campaigns cutting edge tools to activate current voters and reach new ones in a fast changing media environment.

Will’s innovative techniques and breakthrough media have helped win tough campaigns in 47 states, helping elect six Governors, seven U.S. Senators and dozens of members of the U.S. House and other statewide offices. Will was one of the founders of the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center, and has produced media for fifty seven referendum and initiative campaigns in eighteen states and the District of Columbia.

Will’s recent projects include the victorious We Are Ohio/ No on Issue 2 campaign protecting collective bargaining rights in Ohio (2011); a successful campaign to protect same day voter registration in Maine (2011); winning ballot measure campaigns in Oregon, Massachusetts and Florida (2010); as well as winning independent expenditure campaigns in the Minnesota gubernatorial and Colorado Senate elections (2010).

Before founding The New Media Firm in 2007, Will was a partner at MacWilliams, Robinson and Partners and served as Media Director and Senior Advisor to Senator Bill Bradley’s Presidential Campaign. Will also worked under the late Ron Brown and Paul Tully as the Campaign Director of the Democratic National Committee.

Will is a Georgetown Hoya but no longer discusses Georgetown basketball. Will claims Delaware, Iowa, Pennsylvania and Maine as home states. He lives in Cape Elizabeth, Maine with his wife Lynn, his daughter Claire, and a beagle named Jake.

Founder: Tierney Hunt

A founding partner in The New Media Firm, Tierney Hunt has earned a reputation as a skilled political strategist, director, producer and writer. For more than a dozen years, she has directed award-winning strategy and media for competitive races across the country. Tierney’s creativity, experience and dedication have helped elect Governors and dozens of members of the U.S. House and other statewide offices. She has developed strategy and media for winning referendum and initiative campaigns across the country.

Tierney’s recent clients include 2008 independent expenditure campaigns on behalf of Barack Obama for President, Attorney General Richard Cordray (OH) and the successful 2008 Ballot Initiative campaign for Missouri Home Care. Tierney also directed and executed media for issue advocacy campaigns including TV, radio, print and outdoor advertising for Health Care for America Now and LiUNA and produced SEIU’s “Walk A Day in My Shoes” video on Senator Joe Biden.

Before co-founding The New Media Firm, Tierney was a partner at MacWilliams, Robinson & Partners where she directed strategy and media for top targeted and competitive races. In 2006 she helped develop and execute the media strategy behind Ted Strickland’s successful gubernatorial bid, making him the first Democrat elected governor of Ohio in 16 years. She was a key member of the strategic team that crafted the groundbreaking “Americans for Health Care” ad campaign for SEIU, which helped place health care at the top of the 2004 presidential agenda.

Tierney coordinated media production and placement for Bill Bradley’s 2000 presidential campaign, supervising seven ad agencies and coordinating media placement for TV and radio in 20 states. In 1998, she was part of the team that helped elect the first openly gay member of congress, Tammy Baldwin.

Early in her career Tierney worked as a field organizer and volunteer coordinator for the hotly contested campaign of Congressmen Maurice Hinchey. Tierney began her work in politics at the age of 8 when she leafleted for her Aunt Mary’s race for county commissioner in Michigan. Tierney holds Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental studies from Allegheny College. Tierney lives in Washington, DC with her husband Jonathan.


A partner in The New Media Firm, Lisa Stanley has more than fifteen years of experience as a consultant in political and issue advertising, film and video production and public relations. Lisa’s work includes communications strategy, message development, writing, producing and directing for high-profile political and issue campaigns. She has produced television, radio and print ads for some of the most competitive political campaigns in the country.

Lisa’s political clients include Senators Debbie Stabenow, Ben Cardin, Tom Harkin, Frank Lautenberg, Paul Wellstone, Robert Toricelli, Jack Reed, Governor Jeanne Shaheen, Attorney General Thurbert Baker, Congressmen Mel Watt, Dennis Moore and Tom Udall. Lisa has also produced ads for numerous successful ballot initiatives and independent expenditure campaigns.

Lisa has written and produced video programs and issue advocacy advertising for labor unions and non-profit organizations including The National Education Association, The Service Employees International Union, The Nature Conservancy, Planned Parenthood, The Government of the Bahamas and The AFL-CIO.

Prior to consulting, Lisa was a producer at The Kamber Group, a Washington, DC public relations firm and worked in product advertising in Minnesota. Lisa holds a degree in Political Science from Boston University and a Master of Arts Degree in Communications & Public Affairs from The American University.

Senior Vice President: Jennifer Beytin

Scott Kozar is Senior Vice President at the New Media Firm. A native of Ohio, Scott has written, directed, and produced television, radio, and online advertising for Democratic candidates, progressive organizations, and ballot initiatives across the country including: Ohio House Democratic Caucus Fund, Cuyahoga County Executive Ed Fitzgerald, Youngstown Mayor Jay Williams, MTR Gaming, Communications Workers of America, National Education Association, United Mine Workers of America, and The American Worker PAC.

Scott holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Dayton and a Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State University College of Law. He lives in Washington, DC with his wife Maura Healy.

Writer: Jason McKnight

Jason McKnight has nearly fifteen years experience in developing strategy and messaging for a range of political, institutional, corporate and media clients. He brings to the table a unique mix of creativity and analytical ability, a strong sense of language and narrative, and a knack for seeing beyond the details to the bigger picture. Jason started his career staffing political campaigns and helping to conduct polling for clients like Ted Strickland, Sherrod Brown and Paul Wellstone while at the Feldman Group. He honed his skills doing marketing research at The Washington Post, and later worked with Cornell Belcher at Brilliant Corners Research & Strategy, conducting polling in support of Howard Dean’s 50-State Strategy at the DNC and for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. Jason is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and lives with his wife in Falls Church, VA.

New Media Coordinator: Xavier Lopez-Ayala

Xavier joins The New Media Firm from the Alliance for a Better Minnesota, where he managed the online strategy for the communication hub's online issue advocacy and independent expenditure campaign in Minnesota's gubernatorial election. At ABM, Xavier also worked with America Votes and State Voices table partners to optimize their online efforts to educate, engage and mobilize targeted voters through the use of mobile, online advertising and social media.

Xavier was first introduced to politics as a sophomore in high school, when he participated in California YMCA's Youth & Government program, which he would go on to lead as its Youth Governor two years later. Xavier cut his chops on Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign, traveling to six different states. In between classes and trips to exotic locales such as Davenport, IA and Lima, OH, Xavier learned about social media and community building at Spout.com, a social networking website for film lovers. Xavier has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI and is a member of the political science honor society.

Account Manager: Linda Havilland

Linda brings more than ten years of experience as a business manager and bookkeeper for political media firms. Her personal commitment to progressive candidates and causes enables her to put in the long hours necessary to get the job done during the busy political season. Linda runs the office and manages accounts with an unparalleled attention to detail and a boundless dedication to client service. Linda is also a skilled photographer and a graduate of the University of Maryland.
